Many people dream of going on a challenging travel. Most of them keep dreaming; others make it happen. Gregg Bleakney dreamed of going bike riding from North America to South America after finishing a pleasant bike ride. So did Gregg's friend, Brooks Allen.
To pay for the trip, the two friends worked for years. When they were on the road, they often camped outdoors or stayed in cheap hotels. In many places, local people opened their homes to the two friends and gave them food.
During their trip, Gregg and Brooks rode through deserts, rainforests and mountains. They visited modern cities and ancient buildings. On the way they met other bicyclists from all over the world. Brooks had to return to the USA near the bottom of South America and Gregg continued without him. In May 2007, Gregg finally reached his goal. He traveled twelve countries and finished the 30,500-kilometer trip.
Gregg and Brooks kept a record of their trips in a blog. The trips taught both men a lot about traveling. Here is some of Gregg s advice:
Travel light. The less baggage(柜台)you have, the less you'll worry about.
Be flexible. Don't plan everything. Always be ready for something unexpected. Then you'll be more relaxed and happy, even when there are challenges along the way.
Be polite. As one traveler told Gregg, "Always remember that nobody wants to fight or cheat a nice person."
Anything worth doing requires time, energy and action. There is no exception. If you hold on to your dream, you can make it like Gregg and Brooks and have fun while you're at it.

Puberty(更年期)is the process of life when young people leave childhood and move into adulthood. It is difficult for teenagers because puberty has an influence on both their minds and bodies. They need to understand what is going on with their bodies, how to deal with those changes and how to start taking responsilility for themselves.
Some young people may begin puberty at 8, while others may not start until 14 or 15. Usually, teenage girls start puberty two years before teenage boys do. For both boys and girls, it is usually complete by the age of 18.
During these years, the body develops in many ways. Feelings can also change quickly.
Teenage boys during puberty often begin to take unnecessary risks. Their attention is on having fun and being accepted. They like trying some challenging outdoor activities like skateboarding and rock climbing. So they need to think deeply before they act and make good decisions for themselves.
A girl's personality(性格)often doesn't develop in the same way as a boy's. Teenage girls sometimes don't believe in themselves. They are no longer sure about their own feelings. However, they are usually afraid to tell their parents or teachers about their problems. For this reason, teenage girls should be encouraged to discuss things with trusted adults.
Parents, schools and communities can do a lot to care for and help young people. It is everyone's responsibility to help young people grow into healthy adults.

Every family in the UK produces over a ton of rubbish every year. A large part of the waste could be recycled, but only about 50% of the family waste is recycled in the UK now. 61.
First let's think about waste:Waste is created when we throw things away because we no longer need or want them.62.
When we throw things away, the waste is harmful to the environment in two ways. On the one hand, we are losing natural resources(能源)and energy, such as the wood which is made into chopsticks. So if we keep using and throwing away resources in this way, finally they will be used up. 63.The waste, or rubbish, has to go somewhere. In the UK, most waste is burned every year, which causes environmental pollution.
It is important for everyone to live sustainably(保护环境地), not just in the UK but around the world. 64.Then how can we do something smarter with our unwanted things?
65.Recycling means turning waste products into materials to make new products. For example, old mobile phones can be separated into different parts and some of the parts can be used in new phones or other electronic products.
All in all, everyone needs to make an effort to live an environmentally friendly life.

One day in ancient Greece, King Hiero asked a crown(王冠)maker to make him a golden crown. When he first saw the crown, he was happy with it. "It's a nice crown, isn't it?" he asked his men. But later, he began to doubt whether it was a real golden crown. The king sent the crown to Archimedes, a great scientist, because he wanted Archimedes to discover the truth.
"This problem seems difficult to solve. What should I do?" thought Archimedes. He was still thinking about it as he filled his bath(水槽)with water. When he got into the bath, some water spilt(漏出). "That's it!" shouted Archimedes. "I know how to solve the king's problem!"
Archimedes went straight to the palace to see the king. In the palace, he told the king he had an idea. First, he weighed the crown and asked the king for some gold of the same weight as the crown. Next, he put two pots into two big bowls and filled both pots with water. Then, he put the gold into one pot, and some water ran into the bowl. Finally, he put the crown into the other pot. This time, even more water ran into the bowl.
"Look at this," Archimedes said to the king. "The gold of the same weight as the crown made less water run into the bowl, but this crown made more water run into the bowl. So I'm sure that it's not made completely of gold."
"The crown maker fooled me, didn't he?" shouted the king. He then punished the crown maker. At the same time the king praised Archimedes.
